Thugs attacked Murtala Ajaka, the 2023 Kogi State governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), following a Supreme Court ruling affirming Usman Ododo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, as governor of the state.
In a clip published by TVC News on Friday, individuals believed to be supporters of the incumbent governor were seen throwing stones at Ajaka as he was led out of the court premises.
Ajaka, dressed in white, was pelted with stones from all directions as the supporters violently charged at him. They booed him, shouting, “Move, move,” and even struck his vehicle violently as he attempted to drive off.

EQ observed security operatives in the footage. Although they tried to ensure Ajaka left the court unhurt, they did nothing to restrain the mob.
A five-member panel of the Supreme Court dismissed Ajaka’s petition against Ododo in a suit marked SC/CV/654/2024, citing that it lacked merit and refused to void Ododo’s election victory as requested by the plaintiff.
Ododo was announced the winner of the 2023 governorship election in November by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after securing 446,237 votes in the state.
