The Kano State Government has accused hoodlums disguised as #EndBadGovernance protesters of stealing documents it was using in the trial of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
Governor Abba Yusuf visited the State High Court on Wednesday to assess the damage done to it during the August 1-10 protest and later said “hired miscreants” destroyed the place.
Yusuf inspected the premises in the company of Barrister Haruna Isah Dederi; the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Alhaji Abdullahi Ado Bayero; the Chief Registrar of the High Court, and some judges.
During this visit, the governor said hoodlums carted away documents the court was using to build its case against the former governor.

In a statement Yusuf’s spokesman Sanusi Tofa signed, the governor said, “It is very unfortunate that enemies of Kano State hired undesirable elements to vandalise one of the historic public buildings with a mission of averting corruption charges against the Ag. National Chairman of APC and former governor of the state Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his family and aides.”
The damage done to the court, Yusuf said, would set the state back over N1 billion.
He advised that youths should shun invitations by mischief makers to participate in violence that could damage the state.
The state earlier took Ganduje, his wife Hafsat, Umar; his son, Umar Abdullahi, and five others to the court over misappropriation and diversion of funds during his tenure as governor. The accused are facing eight charges.
In a similar fashion, after the October 2020 #EndSARS protest, court documents filed against President Bola Tinubu by Dapo Apara, Managing Director of Alpha Beta, were destroyed.
Apara’s lawyers decried the development and said the claimant would have to file a fresh lawsuit at the Igbosere High Court in Lagos.
