The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has said in a statement that it would refer to its Disciplinary Board to take appropriate measures to investigate the delay experienced by Nigeria’s Super Eagles at a Libyan airport between Sunday and Monday.
The African football governing body said that it had contacted the Libyan and Nigerian authorities to address the national football team’s ordeal.
“The matter has been referred to the CAF Disciplinary Board for investigation and appropriate action will be taken against those who violated the CAF Statutes and Regulations,” part of the statement read.

EQ had earlier reported the maltreatment that the Nigerian players experienced at the Libyan airport on Monday.
EQ also reported that the Super Eagles team were about to return to Nigeria as at 1:07 pm, according to an X post put out by William Troost-Ekong, the team’s captain.
The Super Eagles arrived at the Al-Abraq Airport for the return leg of their 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Libya, which was set to be held on Tuesday, but the Nigerian players were stranded at the airport for up to 16 hours.
