Aisha Shittu, a corps member posted to Kaduna State by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was kidnapped from her apartment in the third week of November.
EQ learnt on Sunday that Shittu was abducted from her apartment at Baba Saura Estate, Maraba Rido in the Chikun Local Government area of Kaduna.
Muhammed Salisu, Shittu’s uncle, told EQ that the abduction took place in broad daylight.

The kidnappers have now demanded N500 million from Shittu’s family, an amount equivalent to the initial sum allocated for the proposed Abuja-Lagos superhighway in the 2024 budget.
“I was just informed some minutes ago that the kidnappers have called and are demanding N500 million for her release. This is outrageous as we cannot afford any amount close to that,” Salisu said.

Salisu had earlier called on Nuhu Ribadu, the national security adviser (NSA), and other relevant authorities to secure Shittu’s release via his X handle.
“Aisha Shittu, a youth corp member, was kidnapped last Sunday/Monday night at Baba Saura Estate, Maraba Rido, Kaduna,” Salisu wrote on Saturday afternoon.
“Over a week later, nothing has been heard, and the NYSC remains silent. This is an urgent call for the NSA to intervene and ensure her safe return. Please act now!”
Shittu graduated from the Kogi State University, Anyigba, from where she was deployed for the one-year national service.

“She’s my niece. She was kidnapped last week,” he said.
Salisu said that the police had been involved, but no progress had been recorded towards rescuing the lady.
Mansir Hassan, the Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson, could not immediately confirm this at press time.
When told that the incident occurred at Maraba Rido, Hassan said he would get back to EQ. “Alright. I will get back to you,” he said.
