Dan Bello, a journalist and filmmaker whose real name is Bello Galadanchi, has responded to the Kano Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s call for his arrest with an exposé on public funds theft in the state.
In a skit released on Sunday, Bello, known for his satirical clips, claimed former Kano commissioner Murtala Sule Garo stole N10 billion in public funds.
The clip includes pictures of documents and receipts linking Garo to the crime.

“APC in Kano has called on Tulumbu to arrest me for inciting violence. But… What did APC do in Kano? Stealing! High level theft!!” Bello stated on Sunday.
“For example, this is APC Kano’s deputy governor[ship] candidate Murtala Sule Garo. He was the commissioner for local governments when dollar bandit (Ganduje) was governor. On another note, this APC leader owns two companies. One opened with his name as MJ Multipurpose Services. And another with his relative’s name called AU Future Investment Limited.
“Murtala APC Kano made it mandatory for every local government to pay more than N5 million monthly. These funds would be used to buy diesel for Kano’s water treatment plants; N5 million × 44 local governments is N228 million monthly. So, does he purchase the diesel?”
Continuing, he said: “Remember MJ and AU? They will write to the ministry of local government requesting payments of funds for delivering diesel. Wait wait wait wait. Who owns MJ and AU and who is the commissioner? Murtala APC Kano.
“Murtala APC is writing to Murtala APC requesting funds for delivering ‘diesel’. He is paying himself. What’s next for this able Kano APC leader? Send himself money from government coffers to his bank accounts for MJ and AU.”

Bello narrated how Garo failed to use the funds, about N10 billion, to serve his people in Kano.
Garo diverted the funds to bureau de change companies, converted the naira to Saudi riyal and paid for real estate overseas, he said, adding that Garo moved the funds from his AU and MJ companies to BDCs Muftahi Sani and NNM Fagge.
“These are bureau de change companies in Wapa, Kano. They will then change the money to Riyal, and wire to a company called Naxt Vision in Makkah,” Bello said.
“Isn’t Makkah a holy and spiritual place? But APC Kano are turning this sacred city to a place to take our stolen money. Naxt Vision is a real estate company. Little by little, to avoid suspicion, Murtala APC Kano wired N10 billion to Naxt Vision.
“How much is N10 billion? N1 billion is one thousand one million. So, N10 billion is 10 × a thousand million; N10 billion will buy 133,000 bags of rice. It could build 50 primary schools at N200 million per school. This money will pay hospital bills for 500,000 people at N20,000 per person.
“But what did Murtala APC Kano do with that money? He purchased a suite at the Hilton Hotels in Makkah City. He can live there and rent it out. You can see the Ka’abah from the hotel. Oh my goodness!
“This is just one commissioner of many in APC Kano. Don’t forget their dollar-stashing bandit and beard-painting deputy. So, are you still calling for my arrest?”
This is not the first time APC has been accused of corruption in Kano. In July 2023, the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) opened investigations into allegations of bribery against Umar Ganduje, the immediate past governor of Kano.
Jafaar Jafaar, an investigative journalist, had obtained and shared videos of Ganduje collecting wads of dollars as a bribe in 2018.
Also, Kano’s PCACC also told journalists that it had arrested Idris Wada Saleh, a former Kano commissioner, over alleged N1 billion fraud in 2023.
Ganduje remains a free man in spite of video evidence of his wrongdoing as a public servant.
