Kaduna Electric Keeps Resident in Darkness After Withholding His N14,500 Token

Gabriel Iduh, a Kaduna State resident, has narrated how Kaduna Electricity Distribution Plc., also known as Kaduna Electric, deprived him of power supply by not sending him the N14,500 prepaid metre tokens he purchased.

Iduh told EQ that he made the token purchases on July 7 and 13 respectively.

“The first N10,000 token purchase I made was on July 7,” he said.

“After I consummated the transaction, my account was debited but Kaduna Electric did not send my token to me. This went on for days and despite all the phone calls and emails I sent to them, the token was still not sent to me.”

Receipts of the Token Purchases Iduh Made

Six days later, Iduh decided to make another N4,500 token purchase.

“On July 13, I made another token purchase and this time, I bought units worth N4,500,” he recalled.

“It was important I made the purchase because I was then very low on units and would soon run out of power in my apartment.

“Shockingly, after making the N4,500 purchase, the distribution company still did not send the token to me.

“Just like the first time, I sent several emails and made phone calls to them, but they would not respond to me.

“I was then forced to send an email to Paystack to confirm the status of the transactions and they confirmed to me that both transactions were successful from their end.

“That meant the non-release of token was from Kaduna Electric and they still have not done anything to resolve the situation till date.

“Presently, I now survive on power from my generator and my inverter and the cost of running such is very high. I just want Kaduna Electric to allow me have my N14,500 worth of tokens. There is no assurance that if I attempt making yet another purchase the tokens would be sent to me.”

EQ sent an email to Kaduna Electric for a reaction on Monday, but it had not been responded to at press time.
