#FearlessInOctober Kicks Off in Lagos, Protesters Demand Review of Economic Policies

The #FearlessInOctober protest kicked off in Lagos State on Tuesday morning, with protesters asking the government to review its policies amid ongoing economic hardship.

Tuesday, October 1, is Nigeria’s Independence Day and it’s exactly 64 years since the country gained independence from British colonial rule. The protesters who came out in large numbers say said that October 1 is ‘National Survival Day’ and not ‘Independence Day’.

While monitoring the protest at Ikeja, EQ saw protesters holding placards with inscriptions such as, ‘Reduce Petrol Price to N197 Per Litre; End Scarcity’, ‘End All Attacks On Democratic Rights’, ‘Free Adaramola Michael Lenin and Others Now’ and ‘Reverse Electricity Tariff Hike’.
