Mercy Chionumah, a resident of Ile-Ife, Osun State, has accused Esther Fadipe, an online fashion vendor, of defrauding her of N173,850.
Chionumah told EQ she paid the N173,850 in separate transactions between October 28 and 31. She paid for fashion items including imported bags, slippers, shoes, and heels, advertised as part of an “Ember Bonanza”.
The Ile-Ife resident said that after she made her picks and paid in full, Fadipe neither delivered the items nor refunded her money. Instead, she blocked Chionumah’s phone line and stopped responding to her messages.

“Fadipe promised to send the goods but has not done so to date. She has blocked my line and has stopped responding to me on WhatsApp,” Chionumah told EQ.

In October, an EQ reporter contacted Fadipe for comments on the issue but she claimed her phone had been stolen and asked that the reporter tell Chionumah to message her.

However, when Chionumah contacted Fadipe and sent a screenshot of her payment as requested, Fadipe blocked her on WhatsApp.
Chionumah said that she decided to buy the cheap fashion items Fadipe advertised as items to be shipped from China after someone had vouched for her but this did not turn out to be her experience.
EQ called Fadipe on Wednesday but she declined the calls. She had not responded to the text sent to her phone at press time.
