Tim Koffi (not real name), a software developer living in Abuja, is still awaiting a N231,000 refund from Dana Air months after the Nigerian airline cancelled two flights he booked.
Koffi narrated his experience with Dana Air on Saturday.
EQ gathered that he had booked two Abuja-Lagos flights on March 24 and April 11 respectively, but the airline cancelled both flights on April 25 after its operations were suspended by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

Koffi told EQ that he booked the first flight for his brother-in-law in March and paid N100,000 for it. “When it was time for him to travel from Abuja to Lagos, that was when the airline was suspended,” he noted.
The second booking he made was for himself on April 11; a round trip (Abuja to Lagos and then Lagos to Abuja) scheduled for May.

But on April 25, following the suspension of its operations, Dana Air sent Koffi two emails to notify him of the cancelled flights.
Email trails between the software developer and the airline show that the customer provided all the necessary information that would enable Dana Air to process the refund that same month but he got nothing.

The last time Koffi heard from Dana Air was June 4, when he got an email with the following words: Sincere apology for the delay. Kindly be informed that all payment processes are in batches Thanks for your understanding.
EQ reached out to Dana Air on Saturday via its email address as well as WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook pages, but no response has been received.
Following the suspension of Dana Air’s operations, many passengers who had their flights cancelled have been complaining about the airline’s prolonged delay in refunding their ticket fares.
On August 21, Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, told EQ that the agency had given Dana Air an ultimatum to refund the travellers’ money.
“The Authority is aware of pending cases of refunds. We called the airline to a meeting last week, and we have given them an ultimatum to present a proper plan for these refunds. We have also given them a list of all requests for refunds that were reported to the NCAA,” Achimugu had said.
