Instead of paying Ayodeji Oladapo Ajayi, a Lagos-based businessman, his balance of N2,192,000 after he delivered 3,200kg of African black soap, Alabi Kolawole of Lanoire Ltd. has asked him to head to court.

It has been four months since Ajayi delivered 3,200kg of the black soap worth N7,872,000 to Kolawole, but he (Kolawole) has only paid Ajayi N5,680,000 and refuses to respond to Ajayi’s pleas for his refund.

Ajayi told FIJ that Kolawole approached him in January to produce African black soap, and they agreed that Kolawole would pay the balance when he came to pick up the items after production, but when Kolawole picked up the items, he beseeched Ajayi to give him the grace of two weeks to pay him for the service rendered.

Ajayi waited till June, the following month, before asking for his balance, but Kolawole failed to keep to his words.

“The agreement we had was that he would pay the balance before picking the goods, but he later came to me pleading that since he has paid close to N6 million, I should give him the grace of two weeks,” Ajayi told FIJ on Friday.

“I had to call him after waiting for two months. He has refused to answer my calls or text messages.”

Ajayi also told FIJ that he had to plead with his friend, a lawyer, to speak with Kolawole with the hope that he would yield and pay his balance, but this did not yield positive results.

“He told my friend, who is a lawyer, that I should go to court. He knows that I don’t have the money to go to court. I feel so helpless and cheated because I do not have the money to pursue this case in court,” Ajayi lamented.

FIJ sent Kolawole a message on WhatsApp and his cell phone on Monday. Kolawole had not responded to the text messages at press time. FIJ also called him twice on Wednesday, but he did not respond.
