Dana Air has finally made a N131,544 to Sulton Hamzat, the Lagos resident whose Lagos-Abuja round-trip flight booking was cancelled by the airline in April.
This came six days after EQ reported how the airline failed to make a refund to Hamzat four months after the flight was cancelled.
“I am very grateful, EQ. Dana Air finally made the N131,544 refund this afternoon,” Hamzat told EQ on Friday.

“Earlier in the day, the airline first sent me a message apologising for the delay in payment. The message somewhat felt different from the ones I had been receiving from them in the past.
“At exactly 5:33 pm, I received another message and this time, it was a credit alert of N131,544 from Dana Air. I was very happy when the message came in.
“Thank you so much, EQ. I am very grateful. I can’t thank you enough.”

On August 10, EQ published a story on how Hamzat booked the flight with the airline on April 16, hoping to fly from Lagos to Abuja on April 30. He had also planned returning to Lagos on the same day.
Dana Air would, however, cancel the flight, citing a suspension it had received from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) as reason.
After filling a refund form, hoping to get his money back from Dana Air, he no longer heard from the airline for four months.
