OPay, a mobile money company, finally released the N4,000 Olufunmisho Adeoye (not real name), a Lagos-based content writer, sent from her account two days after FIJ’s intervention.
Adeoye confirmed the delivery of the sum on Sunday evening, saying that the recipient, a Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) customer whom the money was intended for, had received it.
“The unsent money that I spoke to you about, the recipient has confirmed receiving it. He received it on Saturday evening,” Adeoye told FIJ.

Before this successful transaction, the content writer had reached out to FIJ on Thursday, detailing how her N4,000 transaction to the GTBank customer was unsuccessful despite a debit on her account on November 7.
She stated that she had sent the money to the customer to buy an item but it never entered the other party’s account.
She explained further that she also contacted OPay’s customer support on Tuesday and they said the funds ought to reflect within 10 and 15 minutes.
“I have received your information. The beneficiary bank is processing it. It usually takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete the processing,” OPay told Adeoye.
“Please wait patiently. You can also check with the beneficiary bank whether the account has been received. At the same time, OPay will continue to follow up and give you timely feedback on the results.”
The initial debit receipt saying that the money left Adeoye’s account but was never delivered to the GTBank customer.
On Thursday at 11 am, FIJ contacted Adeyemi Adekunle, the spokesperson of OPay, but he didn’t respond. He asked that FIJ send him a text instead.
The now-received funds.
When FIJ sent him details of the transaction 58 minutes later, he didn’t acknowledge or respond to the message, but Adeoye’s funds were delivered two days later.
